Karen Hilling, DVM
Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine
Dr. Karen Hilling is a 2005 graduate of Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed an internship at Florida Veterinary Specialists & Cancer Treatment Center in Tampa, Florida. In 2009, she earned her board certification in Internal Medicine after a rigorous residency at Tufts University in Massachusetts. It was here that she was trained in hemodialysis and discovered a passion for all kidney and urinary system diseases.
Prior to joining the Four Seasons team in 2014, Karen worked for many years in Denver building a successful internal medicine practice, including a busy endoscopy service. Karen has a broad range of clinical interests including intestinal, pancreatic, and liver diseases, pulmonary diseases, blood disorders (hematology) and immune-mediated diseases. Her own dog, Miss Bailey, was a long time survivor with ITP and IMHA.
The quick diagnosis and safe treatment of cancer patients is an important facet of Karen’s practice. Finding the right balance of medical intervention and achieving quality of life for her patients is a vital component in the way Karen practices medicine. Understanding the difficult choices that owners sometimes must make, she will always make time to discuss every option so that her clients feel educated on the best possible care for their beloved pets.
When not at work, Karen spends time with her husband and two dogs exploring beautiful Colorado. Her personal interests include hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, horseback riding, cooking, photography, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
