Outpatient Ultrasounds

We offer the option of making ultrasound appointments directly with our Diagnostic Imaging department, and often have same-day appointments available. This way, you receive the information you need quickly. Outpatient appointments are typically made with your family veterinarian’s recommendation, and are best for clinically stable pets. Abdominal ultrasounds include high-detail evaluation of the liver, gall bladder, spleen, kidneys, intestines, urinary bladder, lymph nodes, and many other structures to provide valuable insights for your veterinarian.

  • Availability – Appointments are available Monday through Friday for convenient scheduling. Same-day appointments may be available; please call and inquire.
  • Exceptional Quality – Board-certified expertise paired with cutting-edge imaging technology.
  • Additional Services – Ultrasound-guided tissue and fluid sampling is available when indicated.
  • Fur Clipping – The abdominal area will be gently shaved to ensure high-quality imaging.
  • Fasting – Withhold food for 12 hours before the appointment (water is allowed). If your pet takes medication, a small amount of food is permitted.
  • Bladder Preparation – Please do not allow your pet to urinate within one hour of the ultrasound.
  • Sedation Options – While calm, cooperative pets may not require sedation, anxious and large, strong pets benefit from sedation, both for their comfort and for a more complete ultrasound exam. Talk to your veterinarian about prescribing an oral sedative if needed.

After the ultrasound, our radiologists will briefly review significant findings with you. A detailed report will be sent to your family veterinarian on the same day.
