APPOINTMENTS WITH A SPECIALIST:  Veterinarians and clients are welcome to call us anytime to schedule an appointment with a specialist in internal medicine, surgery, radiology/ultrasound, cardiology, and critical care. We appreciate receiving a case summary before the appointment, including lab work and radiographs, when available. Our specialists are also available to you for phone consultations.

 

APPOINTMENTS FOR EMERGENCY AND URGENT CARE:  Emergency and urgent care visits are available at all times, seven days a week, with or without an appointment. For emergency and urgent care cases you are sending, it’s helpful for our doctors to speak with you directly to discuss your patient’s needs.

Whether you are referring a patient to us for a consultation with a specialist, emergency care, or overnight services, sending the owner along with records and actual films or a CD with the DICOM images is preferable. Sending images in .jpeg format drastically reduces resolution and makes interpretation difficult. Please help us make the best care decisions for our mutual patients by sending DICOM images if possible.

 

RADIOGRAPH INTERPRETATION:

If you are a veterinarian wanting to send us radiographs for interpretation and a written report, you are welcome to submit images to the Radiology Department in the following ways:

• DICOM images via DVMInsight
• DICOM images via Heska/Idexx/RocketPACS/other PACS links
• JPEG images via email (least preferable, hung correctly)
• Film

DICOM images are preferred as the image quality is higher, but we understand that a DICOM format may not be possible. If you need to send the images as JPEGs, we ask that the radiographs are hung in the correct, standard orientation before sending, as this cannot be manipulated. If the JPEG images are not oriented correctly, you will be contacted to resubmit the corrected images. We do not accept photographs of radiographs for interpretation.

We strive to get the reports back promptly, but reports can take 1 to 7 days, depending on our current caseload. If you need an interpretation within less than a week, we recommend submitting the study elsewhere, as we cannot guarantee a specific turnaround time. You are welcome to call the radiology department and ask us for an estimate of turnaround time.

We are not able to offer STAT interpretations at this time.

A second opinion on a complex case can make a difference for your patient. Our board-certified specialists in Internal Medicine, Oncology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Critical Care, and Cardiology are available for phone consultations. You can receive an in-depth phone consultation and written report on the case by providing a case summary, lab work, and diagnostics. We strive for a 24-hour or less turnaround. There is no charge for brief phone consults;  a $45 charge applies for written reports or in-depth phone calls.

To request a consultation, please complete a Request for Specialist Consultation form and return it to us with labwork and radiographs, if available.   Our primary goal at Four Seasons is to support veterinarians in providing the best possible care to patients.

Whenever possible, we prefer to receive radiographs as DICOM files. Images sent as .jpegs have a poor resolution which makes interpretation difficult.

Four Seasons accepts veterinary technician students into our practice to help them gain valuable clinical experience.  During the six-week intern program, students rotate through the following services:  critical care (emergency medicine and intensive care), internal medicine, cardiology, diagnostic imaging, and surgery.
